of the world they call it "rain." I dunno. It never rains in Southern
California. OK, almost never. Today's the first time in ages that I rode
my bike and it got wet. It's a good thing I didn't wash it a couple of
days ago when a friend commented on how dirty it was.

My rain was accompanied by parts of garage roof. Trying to sort that
out in the insane wind & torrential rain was fun.

If you will insist on living on the edge of a rock in the middle of the
Irish Sea, that's what you're going to get.

I discovered some damage from Storm Arwen last weekend, nearly a week
after it had happened: the little solar panel on top of one of the sheds
had blown off the ridge and slid down the roof slightly. Disaster!

Meanwhile, some of my colleagues have only got power back today, and
that's from a generator rather than the grid.

Hah! Call that precipitation? We've had a couple of metres of snow,
cumulatively, over the last week or so. Now sitting a good metre deep
in the back garden, except where I cleared it. Managed to break the
snow blower yesterday, which is annoying, now waiting for a spare
part. In the meantime it's down to shovels.

Thankfully I've now got new wheels and proper winter tyres (even got
some pics on the seller's website

Yeah, you can get stuff like that too (obviously, larger containers for
commercial use). And big reusable plastic ones, too. In all sorts of
different sizes, with at least two different kinds of connector. It's a
PITA.

The French side, with quite a few of them, remained closed for the
whole season. There's only one in the Swiss PdS area, coming up from
Chaperry village, and I think they were just running that with limited
occupancy, plus masks etc.

Shuttle buses round the village were running as normal, again with
mandatory masks, and no standing next to the driver, but as it's only
ever a five minute ride the total exposure time would not be much.
