There have been discussions here about why paying for parking by app isn't
cheaper than by cash. That's now changing:

I may have missed it, but I don’t see anything which says how much it costs
to pay on foot by card rather than with cash.

From the TV report, paying by card at the machine is the same (higher)
price as cash. Only the app is cheaper.

OK, that doesn’t surprise me. I guess they’d argue that it’s the overall
maintenance of the machines that costs, rather than the cash handling, per
se.

Yes, they say that running the machines costs more than running the app.
So, car park operators will either remove the machines, or charge more for
using them
