Mornin' from a cool, almost dry, overcast, dark, dull and dismal day
here in South Yorkshire. We still have very light drizzle and an up to
15 mph cooling wind from the South East. Temperature is at 9C (48.2F)
but feeling more like 7C (44.6F) with that breeze. Barometric pressure
is falling again at 981.2 mB and RH is 95%. Forecast is for more of the
same but with heavy showers throughout the afternoon into the early
evening when, it seems the clouds will be running out of rain.
Temperature will decrease to an overnight low of 7C (44.6F) feeling more
like 4C (39.2F) under a clear sky. Enjoy your day everybody and keep
striving to stay safe. Tabby had an overnight meal, but I haven't seen
her yet today. Sootie was up, breakfasted and out by 08:30 went off on
her morning's ambles. She returned to the excitement as the call out
mechanics started Celica. Their garage is about 400 yards away and,
they were here less than 10 minutes, so I guess a tenner was a fair
price. Here's hoping we're up and running as usual again now.

I am guessing the call-out was because of lack of use recently.

I invested in one of these:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165394934083

I have only needed it myself once, but it has also proved useful when a
neighbour had trouble starting, and this fixed it for him twice.

It contains a lead acid battery (a gel type so that it doesn't leak if
tipped over) which doesn't carry the lithium battery fire risk.

I bought a similar but much smaller version a couple of winters ago,
which usually should be OK for jump starting petrol engines up to 1,800
cc. It has worked before several times but this time I'd let the car
sit idle for much longer and the lithium battery could cope. The guy
who started the car for me used a similar to yours.

My neighbour whose car I started has a 2-litre diesel and I got it
started before the battery in my power unit ran low. I suspect the lead
acid battery has a bit more in reserve than a lithium battery can offer.
