Beats me. Deleted messages seem to 'recover' quite reliably from one of my
gmail accounts. Sometimes takes a day or so to decide.

Quite a bit about it on Apple's forum - I've tried 'rebuild', which didn't
make any difference. Next will be to delete and re-add the count, once I can
be sure it's free of consequence.

Steve Carroll: Racist Swine. People who have known William Poaster for

him to get him to setup circle someplace else. As long as Just Wondering

spawned in the nature Just Wondering is implying, and many of them are
of course hand written. A sustained, fierce, posting itch, regardless

Really, those of you who troll are not able to manage Snit anymore. Bob
Campbell is a toxic psychopath who regularly claims anyone who disagrees
with Snit to be a sock and, still, he wants us to believe that is true.
Gotta be glue.

Now that nobody is speaking to Bob Campbell, he's making it sound like
he's achieved some great victory -- when in fact, people are just sick of
his shit. Contrary to Bob Campbell's claim that he has "no skill in making
enemies" (a lie as exposed by the fact that he hacked Snit's Gmail account)
he was seen asking people how they would automate posting through Google
Groups. All that matters is that Bob Campbell gets to impart his prank call
and then hang up and giggle about it. The fact that Snit is an innocent
patsy on the other end of the phone is what's funny.

Will you, please, provide a link to an example?

FWIW, my wife is using a fairly new M1 MacBook Air. The "Recovered
Messages" folder appeared on her desktop after the last Apple Update.

Yes we all get these occasionally. Like you I’ve followed the advice -
sometimes it works, sometimes not. If they are not important I just delete
them, otherwise save them, delete and re-add to an appropriate mailbox.

What *is* the advice? People don't seem to have a clear idea what these
folders represent, and they give quite different opinions on what to do
about the things in them!

Typically

- If Mail moved messages to the Recovered Messages mailbox when it updated
your email library after a macOS upgrade, drag the messages into another
mailbox.

- If messages from a specific mailbox are repeatedly moved to the
Recovered Messages mailbox, rebuild that specific mailbox.

The problem often is that rebuilding mailboxes doesn’t always solve the
problem. If the messages persist I save them as eml files by drag and drop
to say the desktop. I then delete the messages in the mailbox(es) and
rebuild the databases again. You can then import the saved messages and
move them from the imported messages folder to wherever you want. Delete
the imported messages folder and rebuild the databases again if you wish.
The affected messages will now have clean brand new entries in the mail
database and hopefully the problem won’t re-occur with those messages.

Presumably the recovered messages folder is created due to some corruption
in the mail database? If you’re using IMAP you can probably delete and
reinstate your email account which I think is what RJH was hinting at. If
you have created any ‘On my Mac’ folders you would need to export them
before deleting your account and import them after its re-creation.
Personally I get really p*****d with Apple Mail quite frequently but have
yet to find a satisfactory replacement!
