We first heard from Justin Elliot in 2014. His first appearance was in
the week ending 11th April, he next appeared in the last week of October
and a few more times that winter, then he was absent for most of 2015.
He reappeared in November 2015 and has appeared pretty regularly since
then (28 weeks in 2016, 47 in 2017, then petering off a bit after that).
From that pattern of appearances, I'm assuming that he started getting
together with Lilian in late 2015.

Anyway, to your question, Simon Williams has been playing Justin since
his second appearance, in October 2014. Terence Harvey was credited with
Justin's first appearance in April 2014. I'm assuming that the change of
actor is correct, and this is not a misprint.

activity to involve appointing anyone else since as there has been no
matches. Presumably, they don’t need any ‘captaining’ if they are not
playing - I would have thought with or without matches, there would be
other matters that still required a Captain or at least a committee.

I've never belonged to a sporting club (I bet that knowledge took a
few umrats by surprise - not) so I don't know how regularly or how
often they might select team captains but most clubs and societies
will have business meetings of some sort and AGMs to elect club
officers for the coming year.
