A vigil is to be held for Dr Ling Felce, the cyclist who died in a collision at The Plain.

Dr Felce was involved in a crash with a tipper lorry on Tuesday afternoon at the junction with St Clement’s Street and The Plain roundabout.

She died of her injuries at the scene.

Her family paid tribute to the young scientist who they called a “extremely bright, friendly and optimistic”.

Her husband of eight years, James, said he is “lost without her warm presence”.

Following her death, The Plain has overflowed with flowers and tributes to Dr Felce.

A white bicycle has been attached to a lamp post on the centre of the roundabout and people have covered it in flowers, messages and poems.

Many of the messages have been from people who did not know Dr Felce but have been upset by her loss.

Flowers have also been attached to other lamp posts around the area.

Dr Felce leaves behind her husband and two children, ages three and five.

Cyclox, an Oxford-based cycling charity, will hold a vigil for Dr Felce this week.

The vigil will be held at The Plain on Tuesday March 8 at 2.30pm, one week on from Dr Felce’s death.
