That should more accurately read '...using her platform to highlight
road ONE safety issue...'.

One might hope that Dame Sarah Storey turns her attention to the data
from the link below that shows that in 2020 almost 50% of cyclists that
were killed did not die as a result of a collision with a motor vehicle.
These deaths are recorded as 'collision with other' and 'no other
involvement'.

Ask the dear lady why she isn't tackling this problem too.

<https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/reported-road-casualties-great-britain-road-user-risk/reported-road-casualties-great-britain-road-user-risk-2020-data>

[The document links to a data set, but my computer can't parse it; more
accurate data might be available from it]

The document on the gov.uk web site titled 'Reported road casualties
Great Britain: road user risk, 2020 data', states in Chart 1 that there
were 141 cyclist road deaths in that period, and Chart 3 has a
diagrammatic breakdown of those deaths.

Estimating from that chart, about

70 cyclists were killed by motor vehicles
14 cyclists were killed in collisions involving 3 or more vehicles

45 cyclists were killed in 'collision with other'
20 cyclists were killed with no other involvement

So ~65 out of 141 cyclist deaths didn't involve another vehicle.
