A cyclist suffered back injuries and bruises after allegedly being knocked off his bicycle by an Alfa Romeo driver. It is reported that the incident was sparked by the cyclist knocking the door mirror of the car.

Now, officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at Cheltenham Road in Gloucester last Thursday (March 3). The incident took place outside the University of Gloucestershire campus and it is thought that a number of people witnessed what happened.

Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area and may have seen what happened or who has dashcam footage of the incident.

A spokesperson from Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "It was reported that a cyclist was travelling along Cheltenham Road at around 9am when he knocked the door mirror of a black Alfa Romeo. It was alleged that the cyclist was then driven into by the Alfa Romeo, knocking him off his bicycle.

"This resulted in the man sustaining injuries to his back and ankle as well as bruising. His bicycle was also damaged. The incident took place outside the University of Gloucestershire campus and it is thought that a number of people witnessed what happened."

The police statement adds: "Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area and may have seen what happened or who has dashcam footage of the incident."
