Great news for local cyclists who have to put up with these morons using cycle paths, putting them in danger. That path under the bridge was my commute for many years.

Heartbreak for the yobs who ride them, but immense satisfaction for the communities sick of hearing them - motorbikes causing misery on Hull's streets will now be crushed.

Several off-road bikes seized from around the city were taken to the scrapyard on Monday in a small victory for neighbours.

The move was made by Humberside Police's Operation Yellowfin, a dedicated taskforce launched in 2018 to tackle motorbike crime.

Nuisance motorbikes have been an issue to people in Hull for months, with illegal riders causing major noise pollution as well as posing a danger to others.

Posting images of the bikes being removed for good, Humberside Police said they were being ridden uninsured at the time of being seized.

"A few motorcycles on their way to be crushed following the start of this years action against stolen motorcycles and illegal riders.

"Officers from across the force are working with various partner agencies to take action against those that cause misery to the wider public. Some good results from this afternoon."

Two people were in custody on Monday morning for motorbike theft, while one rider was also arrested for riding while disqualified and without insurance.

"Three motorcycles [were] seized for being ridden without insurance," the force added.

"These will be crushed due to being off-road vehicles, not permitted on the road or public spaces."

Officers revealed one bungling young biker ended up with nine points and a £400 fine after riding a friend's motorcycle without a helmet and slipping on the grass.

Police also seized cannabis from the hapless rider following the brief pursuit.

The post said: "Finally to top it all off, a young lad decided to ride his mate's moped across the grassed area of Alderman Kneeshaw Park (without a helmet).

"Needless to say he didn’t plan on running out of talent on the slippy wet grass.

"After a short 100m sprint he called it a day and decided he wasn’t going to shake the pursuing police bike. Outcome: 9 points, £400 fine for both rider and owner plus the seizure of their cannabis".

It comes as TikTok last week banned several accounts showing gangs breaking into properties and riding stolen motorbikes after MP Emma Hardy raised concerns about social media being used by criminals to boast of their exploits.

"The PCSOs are doing a fantastic job job supporting residents with the increase in car crime happening in one area of Hull, but what's particularly upsetting residents is seeing these criminals uploading videos onto TikTok and celebrate their crimes," Emma told the Commons last Monday.

Let's hope the authorities also start performing the same crushing of
fairy-cycles used when ignoring red traffic lights, No Entry signs, etc.

All the residents of Humberside now need are the police to tackle
problem cyclists in the same way.

The local police used to love my footage though. :-)
