No, he said, "We already find it difficult to attract mechanics and people
to work on these vehicles. I'm just not sure how many skilled tradesmen
we're going to have to be servicing the diesel vehicles in 15 years' time."

And do note that their business is in CQ, which isn't everybody's cup of
oil.

Very likely.
If he had said that he was going to convert his diesel buses to run on
hydrogen it might of made some sense but the cost of replacing his
existing fleet with fuel cell buses would be astronomical.

even more so the expertise needed to produce and transfer hydrogen on

There were 3 hydrogen buses in Perth from 2004-2007. It allegedly cost 13 million for that beta test.
So none have been seen since then.

What sort of system did they use?
Was it fuel cells or was it diesels converted to run on hydrogen?
Just watched a video about a new way of providing hydrogen to fuel cells
which could be a game changer, no high pressure storage required.

It's unsubstantiated crap with about as much credibility as the
Horvath hydrogen car (google it if you've never heard of it)!

The method all "green" hydrogen producers rely on is electrolysis
using electricity from renewable sources (as the bus operator is
proposing). Any other commercially viable process involves CO2
emissions.
