If a cyclist swerves to avoid a car and so falls over damaging his
bicycle, is the car involved in this "accident", and is the motorist
obliged to stop?

The difficult word here is "involved" which I think you realised. On a
brief search, I haven't found any case law to help.

I think the word would be found to encompass this situation, so that the
car is involved.

The get-out for the driver if they don't stop is that they didn't know
about the incident, and therefore had a reasonable belief that there was
nothing that they had been involved in. This is a reasonable belief
about the facts, and would be a defence in law.

This is distinct from knowing about the incident, but believing that
they were not involved in it, where the latter might arise from a
misunderstanding of the legal meaning of "involved" which would not be a
defence.

I am no Troll! Anyway trolls can have some useful input and tend to
be sensitive creatures usually mauled by your sort. Better start
trembling 'cause I'm sending round the Pied Piper, & he's piping fit!

I ask because of the plethora of small motor-bikes, scooters,
motorized skateboards etc whizzing around everywhere, with a number of
close shaves seen.
