How does she know which side Roy/Kate are viewing them to say the one on
the left / right? Roy may be looking after Roy and Kate may be looking
after Kate.

the wall - short of them both standing on their heads or only
understanding, no, your OTHER left (or right), then I think Kate has Roy

I rather think that they are in separate goldfish bowls. Even Feebs
wouldn't be so tactless as to have them swimming together.

No - I usually listen to her Sunday show but failing to engage as much
with that recently and the Monday evening blues show. Have I missed

Depends. Personally, I like this programme and another new(ish) series
in the Arts strand, This Cultural Life, because I find their different
approach to things stimulating. Each week, This Cultural Life
interviews somebody in depth and so many times it has been somebody
I've not really thought much about before but by the end of the
programme I feel I'm really starting to appreciate the artist in a
different way.

I think John Wilson is excellent at drawing people out and his
research is so thorough that it never sounds as if he has just had a
quick look at their Wikipedia entry but that he has been steeped in
their work all his life. Perhaps he has.

Add To Playlist has a simple concept: starting with the last item
performed the previous week, this week's guest follow a concept to add
five new pieces to the playlist, the last of which will spark next
week's discussions. Cerys Matthews and Jeffrey Boakye have an equally
engaging relationship with their chosen guests as John Wilson, above,
and their musical guests will explain their choices and may well
illustrate what they are talking about by playing a few phrases on
instruments in the studio. This week, for instance, Neil Brand
explained why Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings haunts us so (Spoiler
alert: because the opening chord shouldn't be an opening chord) and
Cerys is really very good at bringing that sort of thing out of
people.

This week's programme is on Sounds or can be downloaded as a podcast

I haven't listened closely to Add to Playlist but whar I have hear
strikes me, in the way that it doesn't shy away from the technicalities
but assumes its audience will appreciate being given an idea of how the
music achieves its effects, as a sort of musical In Our Time.

Thanks Nick, I had heard Cerys mention it - but had not investigated
further. I have listened to the first two shows I can find (from last
October) and whilst I won't (despite a long forgotten but good musical
education) claim to understand it all in technical terms it is certainly
an interesting approach and the leaps are interesting. I shall
certainly listen to a few more. These days I fear I don't always listen
- sometimes the music just plays; as with reading I find concentrating
for any period of time taxing and so rarely manage it. I assume my
brain is rejecting the addition of information to the memory banks.

I don’t know if its coincidence, has to be, but it seems our fishy friends
are in fact super intelligent

As are rabbits (Fiver etc. in Watership Down). Richard Adams wasn’t far
wrong. Even flipping *rats*!!

I’m somewhat behind in my xmas/New Year tv watching but once you get past
epi one which is too slightly bonkers US style, its a well made series.
Even the long distance climbing and hiking cat isn’t at all normal catlike.

Sincerely Chris

Two goldfishes in a tank. One asks the other "How do you drive this thing?"

The second goldfish replied: ‘Point it at Ukraine and press like hell on
