The Balinese like these to convert to trinkets, they looking like
gold.

Is this illegal because in selling one can double (at least) one's
money?

I don't see how it could be illegal. It is essentially currency exchange.

Yes it is illegal but there is no chance of getting caught.

It is anyway.

Nope, dope, because the coins aren't used as currency.

It might be illegal for the buyer, but not for the seller. He can just
say that he was simply selling currency.

Wrong, the seller knows what will happen to the coins.

And only a fool like you would believe that.

Unless the Balinese are coming to Australia to do their work, they're
OK, and so are you for selling it to them.

But don't buy one of the trinkets and bring it back - that can get you
into deep do.

If there were so much to be made, I'd have thought the Balinese would be
coming to Australia, and returning with sacks of coins.

Sylvia.

Though bringing in many such coins could be an issue.

If you bring in one, and keep your mouth shut, they'll have difficult
proving an intent to sell.

Bring in a thousand, and keeping your mouth shut may not help so much.
