I'm not bothered enough for that. I prolly won't even notice the extra
200Mb/s (they're changing the fibre optic box today as this one is capped
at 100).

I sometimes stream video from a W10 Homegroup machine to my Samsung
Smart TV using Allshare. Too far fro Catn and TV not Wifi enabled (it's
10 years old) so I use homeplugs. That's going to be the bottleneck I
suspect.

Well, nobody in their right mind would install bog standard cat5 now, but
there's a lot of old cabling out there, as long as it actually meets cat5 spec,
there's no need for it to be cat5e or higher, gigabit was designed to work on
existing cat5 cables ...

Mind you, some of the existing cables weren't even up to reliable 10/100.
