Cookson's comment is far too general. Note that when taking
left-hand-bends, the overtaking vehicle will have a 'vanishing point'
that is further away than for the cyclist. Cookson fails to mention what
type of corner he is referring to.

Cyclists are noted for not wanting to use their brakes - an infamous
example being the "Get the fuck out of my way" shouted (due to having no
bell on the bicycle) by a rider before killing the pedestrian concerned.

The pavements are not necessarily safer for pedestrians despite the new
Highway Code.

....especially not outside schools, where self-centred teachers boast of
fairy-cycling along the footway and complain of obstruction there
"forcing" them onto the road (carriageway).
