amount of notice the GG's staff were given. At least Oliver told them
in person and not by video link <g>

When the refurbishment commences, the will have to have a new ‘CalMac’ road
laid for all the heavy traffic and all the staff will be from ‘overseas’
working for 25% of union rates.

That's my point: it seems such an incredibly short timeframe to plot a
storyline, write - or even tweak - a script and record it yet it seems
so uncanny for a coincidence.

The P&O sackings were on 17th March (my letter to the Guardian wasn't
published until 25th March) so the TA episode was broadcast only five
weeks (to the day) after the event.

OTOH, there’ll be plenty of Ukrainians genuinely willing to work for
anything to ‘pay back’ our hospitality. Plus all those Afghans we still
haven’t found homes for who were brought here to escape persecution for
using their skills to save our Army from death against the Taliban.
