The far-right AfD got 83 of the 735 seats, and the others refuse to partner with them. So it looks like the potential coalitions of
SPD+Greens+Left
CDU+CSU+FDP
don't have enough to form government. A few weeks of haggling between unlikely bedfellows could be coming up.

As is very often the case in such situation the most likely outcome is a
centre Left+Right big coalition as Germans like to play it safe.
FDP is a very strange bedfellow when it comes to political coalitions.
Luckily the extremist far right is shunned by all, as it should be.

I for one of course would like to see a pure Left coalition after so many
years of CDU/CSU in government but hey, these two European rightwing
parties are farther to the left in politics than our Labor is, not teven
mentioning the LNP.
