Can the police get hold of where you work and show up there or call up
your workplace, if they want to get hold of you?

Can they get access to this information? Does it require a formal
charge against you and therefore a warrant?

But if they have an arrest warrant they will normally show it.

Why do idiots constantly confuse the rules for searches with the power to arrest?
Searches of premises or vehicles for evidence require permission or a *search* warrant.
Searching or arresting a person does not.

I'm curious as to how they can do this.

Are they getting info from the tax office?

If so, how do they get this without a court order/warrant?

Because they are idiots.

Nope, not if they claim that they can smell pot etc with the vehicle.

> Searching or arresting a person does not.

They can't search anyone they like any time they like.

Over the space of four decades, I've had approximately nine employers in
two countries. I'm pretty sure none of my neighbours have ever known
where I worked.

What it means is that you can't do a single thing that could cause
someone calling the cops on you, because you risk the cops showing up at
or calling your workplace, thereby damaging your reputation with the
employer.

I would like to make some tweets about someone inter-state, but I don't
want them getting the cops involved and have it effect my job.

I'll have to wait until I don't have a job.

Wrong. Most of the time the cops actually show up at your
home or ring you and ask you to come into the cop shop.

I don't mind that much. I don't mind waiting until I don't have a job.

I might have a gap between jobs, during which I can do it.

I just want to say things like:

"You're married to a wog and I don't want to see your wog spawn"

"John is pissed off because his wedding got ruined"

"John and Jane once slept together once"

"The last time I saw John he had a good cry".

[ Names are fake ]

I want to tweet the above without the cops showing up at or calling my work.

A perfectly acceptable view. Haven't they invited you to the wedding?

Alas, ruination happens AFTER the wedding; financially, emotionally,
and the family cat is left bereft!

Only once? Heavens! Just because a M & F are sleeping in the one bed
does not necessarily mean they're having gross, naked, hog-squealing
sex. Maybe there is only one bed available! And there's no sofa!
