Whether your issues are with the waste elements or with the brand, you
might be able to solve them by buying some reusable pods and filling
them with a coffee of your choice. Amazon do SEALPOD: other brands are
available.

Having a massive sort out in the kitchen I came across several Nescafé
branded mugs that I would now be embarrased to show in public. I'm not
sure that I ought to foist them onto a charity shop either so they've
gone back into the depths of a cupboard until I can decide what to do.
Which probably means forever.

I'm very happy that there is now a recycling service for the pods.

We have a LaVazza machine, the cheapest available (free if you commit to
a pod subscription) that makes fantastic espresso coffee. No bells and
whistles, so if you like cappuccino you'll have to find another way to
froth your milk [not going there].
It claims that the pods are compostable, but they don;t break down on
our compost heap. :(

I gave up caffeine in coffee maybe 25 years ago, which got rid of the
constant sinus headaches and excess phlegm I'd suffered from since my
teens. I took to black decaf, but gave that up too, about 10 years back. At
that time I was drinking about 10 cups of tea per day, with very little
milk, and camomile tea after 7pm. Then I took to starting my day with a
glass of water, followed by one cup of tea. Drinking only water, or the
very occasional herbal tea for the rest of the day. That's when I gave up
putting milk in it - far too wasteful as even dried milk doesn't last long
enough in the cupboard to cope with that low usage.

Weak tea, made with hot-but-never-boiling water and no milk or other
additives, actually tastes like tea.

I agree - I found an open packet in the kitchen when I was clearing my
father's house - I think one of the live-in carers probably left it. Not a
bad drink, nothing like tea though.

SdNun. I agree with you. His older sister agrees with you. But there are
people who like it. One of my friends from many years ago got the taste of
it visiting us in the 1980s and still drinks nothing else.

It was his bother (and it fits well) who introduced it to us - but it
doesn’t appear to be an offer in deepest, darkest Canada. He was surprised
to know not only it still existed but is his drink of choice!

Sincerely Chris

Yes, just the once. The late mil got a taste for it. Went the same way as

I thangyew. Hard to resist an open errm, goal.

As it happens we still had last week's PMQS recorded so purely in the
interests of academic research I FFed through it. There are very many
shots of the Opposition fron bench and in every single of them Rayner's
left leg is crossed over her right.

So either the accusation by the misogynistic and idiotic Tory MP was
wrong or her legs were whirling like dervishes during the brief moments
the cameras were off her as she switched and then switched back again.

This is what you want then - special offer on Amazon.
Assuming you can heat milk in a pan or microwave.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lavazza-Jolie-Espresso-Coffee-Machine/dp/B086WY959G/ref=asc_df_B086WY959G/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=430764000643&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8490710449956684550&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006506&hvtargid=pla-914895045486&th=1&ref=&adgrpid=103002100507

Put the pods in the recycling.

We do have a box, but I only occasionally select it.

As I have said before, for over 30 years I have drunk no coffee,
and only fruit, herb and spice teas. (1)

My current favourites are:
<https://www.pukkaherbs.com/shop/organic-teas/three-cinnamon/>
<https://www.pukkaherbs.com/shop/organic-teas/vanilla-chai/>

I like an occasional wintertime cocoa, currently Divine
<https://onlineshop.oxfam.org.uk/divine-cocoa-powder-tub/product/HN216739?>

Don't make the mistake of buying their Hot Chocolate, the first
ingredient is sugar, so it is far too sweet for me. We keep
thinking it might be useable to make brownies or something
similar.

(1) OK an occasional Clipper Chai
<https://shop.clipper-teas.com/products/clipper-indian-chai-black-tea-20-bag>
also their green equivalent, which seems to be discontinued.

I didn't like the idea of pods, so I bought a Delonghi Dedica.

It was fairly cheap (supposedly 'refurbished' but obviously never used)
and it lets me use whatever type of (espresso ground) coffee I prefer.

The one snag is that getting a decent coffee grinder, capable of
producing proper grounds for espresso, would cost quite a bit more than
the coffee machine - so I am limited to pre-ground coffee.
