A woman has been pardoned from her jail sentence because of the 'royal
prerogative of mercy'. Would this be possible if we weren't a monarchy?

Pardons exist under other systems. For example, in the USA, State
governors can issue pardons for state crimes, and the President can
issue pardons for federal crimes.

In Australia, even where it's in theory a "Royal Pardon", in practice
the king does not get involved.

Sylvia.

All Judge's swear a oath to Christ through the oath to the Monarch all
our courts are required to have the Royal Coat of Arms anove their and
behind the head as a "badge" of authority so they can pardon
prisoners.
The Australian Court crest to be displayed in all court rooms at the
head of the courts Christian judge,
(without this "badge" of authority the court has no jurisdiction)
"Dieu et mon droit" God is my legal right (old French)
Not
"God and my right " (modern French)
<https://www.yourdictionary.com/droit>

The Original Shield of authority in NSW Supreme court (now removed)?
https://ibb.co/rGQKv2S
The requirement of judges, upon their appointment, to swear not only
the oath of allegiance, but to also take the judicial oath of office
to ‘well and truly serve our Sovereign Lord King Charles the Third’
and to do right to all manner of people according to law.
Thirdly, it is personified in the practice of bowing when in the
presence of a judge in court.

For it is not to the judge that one bows but rather to the armorial
bearings which hang directly above the judge, which in turn symbolise
‘the authority of the Crown as the source of justice.
These are grounds to remove federal Parliament and most of the farm
animals in State Parliament as well.

Judges may affirm instead. There is no longer any legal requirement to
pretend belief in a mythical sky fairy.

If gravity was slightly more powerful
the universe would collapse into a bowl!
If gravity was less powerful the universe would fly apart,
there would be no stars no planets!

Gravity is precisely as strong as it needs to be!
If the ratio of the electromagnetic force to the
strong force wasn't 1% life wouldn't exist!

‘Our Australian Commonwealth from its first stage will be a Christian Commonwealth’.
