For those still into this sort of activity. (Not necessarily of this
size.)  A bit long in the tooth, but still relevant!.

Interesting that back when I was working on those sorts of machines
about the same time as that video I never saw any videos like that.
I sometimes wonder how I survived some of the things I did:-)

A mechanic was killed today near Brisbane fixing the hydraulics on a

Happens too easily.
One of the foreman I worked under when I was an apprentice was pretty
tough on safety but instead of watching a video we would get a whack on
the back of the head and be yelled at, not politically correct in 2021
but it was an effective method.
One of the things he was strict about was not going under anything that
was only supported by hydraulics, we had special stands to support
whatever we were working on.

It does, but far too many people are their own worst enemies.

Nothing wrong with it. I'm sure given the choice that most people would
rather put up with 30 seconds of embarrassment than an eternity of death.

Yeah, I've always been like that. I've seen a number of people suffer
injuries as a result of being stupid/lazy/impatient and it's just not
worth it.

something I learnt right from the start.

have had in traffic accidents Fraudster? You'd *have* to have been
stupid/lazy/impatient to accumulate that list. Or be a congenital liar. Or
both.

Yep things were different back in the 60s, dragging cables as thick as
your wrist up a 45 degree cable trays 25 metre up with no thought of
anything like a safety harness.

Yeah, me too. I remember getting a *massive* chew-out from a tradie at
Warren & Brown when I was an apprenctice with Repco after leaving a
chuck key in a lathe chuck while doing something else for a couple of
minutes before coming back to the lathe. He made a huge noise about it
so everyone in the place could hear and at the time I thought he was
over-reacting and just being a massive cunt.

But the lesson has stuck with me and I have never done it since. Not
even in my own workshop.

Yep. Unlike trade teachers who should know better and who are apparently
happy to post photos of them doing exactly what worksafe would prosecute
them for :)

Hell, you can't even *spell* apprentice and now you claim to have been
one. Well Darren, the trade registration database doesn't lie and that
is backed up by the archives at PROV. Your name doesn't exist in any
Victorian trade register or records, nor were you ever a member of the
VACC as you *claimed*.

Nothing astonishes Noddy so much as common sense and plain dealing.

I bought a battery powered tyre inflater at Aldi today (on special for
$12 bucks). Not a bad device, about the size and shape of a power drill,
not the fastest though, it took just under 3 minutes to get a car size
tyre on a trailer from 15psi to 36psi but it's a lot easier than
dragging out the compressor.

The thing is though that it must be bloody dangerous, the handbook has 5
pages of safety warnings plus another 10 warnings scattered through the
operating instructions.

LOL, manufacturers have gone crazy with safety warnings.
