According to the article below:

“Apple is internally testing several variants of the next-generation M2
chip and the updated Macs that will be equipped with them, reports
Bloomberg, citing developer logs. There are "at least" nine new Macs in
development that use four different M2 chips that are successors to the
current M1 chips.”

I wonder how many of these suggestions will see the light of day? A laptop
with a larger screen would suit me currently!

The CPU variants is a no-brainer. The M2 range will be a drop-in
replacement for the M1/Pro/Max/Ultra.

The nine new Macs again will simply be refreshes of existing models plus
some experimental models which won't see the light of day.

Not convinced this is much of a rumour.

there is still room for new products and then there is the mac pro with
what is likely to be called m* extreme, or perhaps an entirely new
series of processors.

anything where third party developers are seeing new chips in their
logs is far enough along that it's an almost certainty they will see
the light of day.

experimental models do not get anywhere near that far.

it is definitely a rumour, just a vague one.

It's fairly likely they've already done that - you get a Mini/Studio and
the Studio Display, or the 24". At the recent Studio unveiling they said
out loud at the end 'Just one more Apple Silicon Mac to reveal - the Mac
Pro'.

they said that so that people wouldn't think the mac studio was the
replacement for the mac pro, given that it's faster in some tasks.

every product category other than the mac pro now uses apple silicon.
the mac pro is next, likely at wwdc in ~1.5 months.

there may still be other size imacs coming, just as there is likely to
be a higher end mac mini but not a studio.

there may also be new categories, such as something along the lines of
the very portable 12" retina macbook, or a 'mac nano', the size of an
apple tv.

Now is probably a good time. With inflation being so high any future models
will have a price bump.

Hopefully. There were rumours last year of a slightly larger than 27"
iMac.

Both of which I'm very keen on. Love the 12" but my 2015 is verrrrry
slooooow now. A Nano that sits under/on the back of a Studio Display
would be sufficient for iMac 27" replacement purposes.

Honestly, the A13 in the Studio Display is faster than most iMacs...

Oof. What's the expected date on the other bits, late May or so?

it's basically an imac, just not configured to be one.

I ordered it about ten days ago. The expected date for the Mac was
mid- to late-May, but it's just changed to this week. The expected
date for the display is mid- to late-June; perhaps it will improve
too.

A bit like orders delivered by Hermes or Evri as they call themselves now
