The most depressing announcement for me at Aldi is "Manager required at
till 3" when I chose till 3 because it had the shortest queue.

Isn't there a Rule that says whenever you choose the shortest queue some
lengthy delay will occur before it's your turn with the beepeuse?

In Musselburgh Lidl (anticlockwise) the announcement, in a particularly
reassuring Edinburgh accent, begins 'Dear Customers...'

Oh yes.

When I went into Tesco (anticlockwise) the other day I chose the line which had no line because, unlike everybody else in the store, I hadn't realised that I would be waiting for J Alfred Prufrock. I should have spotted the trousers at once and gone somewhere else. It's a clever tactic: engaging the beepeuse in conversation whilst placing the things, one at a time.

On the conveyor, the groceries come and go whilst he, no doubt was talking of Michaelangelo.

Then he moved to the other side and one item at a time he picked them up, studied them then placed them in his shopping bag.
In the trolley, the groceries come and go whilst he, no doubt was talking of Michaelangelo.

And indeed there will be time
To wonder, “Do I dare?” and, “Do I dare?”
Time to open up his wallet and to pay for the fare.
With a blank spot in the middle of his purse
He tendered several fivers that looked worse
For wear

....and that, dear reader is how I missed my bus last Friday.

Nick

Indeed.

Since it always happens to me, when the customer at the head of the

I should have spotted the trousers at once and gone somewhere else. It's a clever tactic: engaging the beepeuse in conversation whilst placing the things, one at a time.

Bravo!

For me it's more...

Garlic and slow buyers in a flood
Clot the bedded Checkout Three.
The trilling wire in the blood

Appraising punching rotten bores.
