Also, these crimes. Speeding, parking the wrong way at night, on yellow lines, on zig zags, outside schools, pavement parking, obstructing traffic by inconsiderate parking, driving while drunk, on mobile phones, with no car tax, no licence, no insurance, no MOT, illegal plates, overtaking on double lines, due care, bald tyres, faulty brakes, one eyed monsters, no rear lights, no brake lights, no indicators, fog light abuse, faulty steering, windscreen obscuration, darkly tinted windows, child seat abuse, no seatbelts, insecure load, one way street abuse, amber/red light jumping, cycle box abuse, bus lane abuse, box junction abuse, death by dangerous driving, excess smoke and noise from exhaust, duff suspension, leaking oil, cash for crash fiddles, underage child in front, lights causing glare, over weight limit, ignoring no entry signs, parking without permit, not having control of your vehicle, improper use of horn, using horn at night, no in date photo licence, no licence application after long ban, without prescribed eyewear, failing to stop for police/lollipop/zebra etc - ran out of space

Much of it is committed by cyclists (people who are not qualified to
drive, for a variety of reasons).

Some of it is committed by pedestrians, armed with heavy blunt objects,
windows for the smashing of, wire coat-hangers or a bunch of keys.

Speed limits only exist because Motorists, like all children, need to be given boundaries until they learn Adult responsibilities. Most traffic lights serve as resource management because motorists have this entitled attitude towards road use.

Ah, but see this story of how a 20mph limit was increased to 30 mph because drivers were not capable of obeying the law. Imagine doing that with the drink drive limit. Disgraceful.

The reaction has been flooding in to yesterday's news that a town in Fife is up for binning a 20mph speed limit because drivers ignore it. Disbelief and frustration would probably sum up the mood...

The limit was originally 30mph and reduced to 20mph in 2016 when a new housing development was built...OnYerBike thinks the council has made a problem for itself in the way the plans have been communicated:

"I really think the council officers have shot themselves in the foot by saying they are changing it BECAUSE no one obeys it. If they'd simply said they'd reviewed the speed limits and decided 30mph would be more appropriate for that stretch of road, I don't think anyone would have batted an eyelid," they commented.

Plenty of commenters, including visionset, put the logic to the test in other scenarios..."apparently psychopaths are not influenced by the illegality of murder. Therefore I propose that we legalise murder for all diagnosed psychopaths."
