Software Update is telling me that the update to 12.4 is available to
download and install.

The Store icon is also telling me there's an update... <looks> ... ah an
update to Xcode. Apparently this includes support for macOS Monterey
12.3 (sic).

I wonder when the 12.4 support will arrive? :-)

I’ve been sort of trying to get into Swift programming for a month or three
(with little enthusiasm I have to say), so I will update my Xcode app. I’ll
do that via direct download from the Developer site though as the App Store
update mechanism seems to take forever.

It has! I've written a very noddy prog which also runs on my iPad.
The project data is stored by default in iCloud and (presumably) the
iPad uses an online software builder in lieu of an iPadOS Xcode app?
I'll get around to reading the documentation oneday!
