Privately owned plane now burnt to a crisp.
The MD87 is very similar to the old DC9.

32 yrs isn't old for an aircraft.
Plenty of DC3's still flying that were built in the 1940's plus many
other types just as old.
Age isn't a problem if they are maintained to a high standard, the
aircraft that crashed was operated as a private aircraft, if it was
operated by an airline it would have had to have been maintained to a
higher standard.

usually explains thing in ways that the general public can easily
understand whereas the NTSB is more focused on technical explanations.

Except that that person is a highly experienced ex military pilot and an
American Airlines 777 First Officer who also has experience flying the
aircraft type that crashed.
You can choose to look at what you like but IMHO Juan Browne's
explanations are easy for a non pilot or non aircraft engineer to
understand.
