I haven't looked at the NTSB report on UA1175 but I did see the
interview with Captain Behnam the PIC on that flight and it was
excellent, very informative from 2 professionals.
It certainly wasn't "official" but it was still very good, you can't get
a better source than the PIC of the flight in question, same source that
the NTSB got some of their info from.
One is "official", the other is just information for the general public,
IMHO both are very useful information sources.
In most cases JB does put the official NTSB final reports in his videos
so its not as if he's trying to undermine the NTSB, what he does is
explain things in ways that the general public can understand so if
anything he's complementing the work of NTSB.

(Recovering from a 60 degree bank at altitude, is hardly a
an ordinary oops.)

After listening to Capt. Behnam, I read the NTSB report. I was
underwhelmed by it. It properly put lots of attention on the
engine blade failure and its cause. But it said zip about the
near loss of airworthyness 120 miles away from any runway, the
extreme efforts by the PIC to regain control of the aircraft,
and his all-but-direct statement that without the jumpseater who
that morning had graduated from {wait for it...} 777 school,
they wouldn't have made the runway.

He had the cabin crew working the ditching checklist.

He stood by that 3-man cockpit posture, by the way, refusing any
PR interviews etc. unless the jump-seater was included.

I thus fear the other lessons of the flight remain unlearned.

I'm not interested enough to read the NTSB report but I did see the
interview with Capt Benham and it was brilliant interview.
