Placed an order online to collect from Screwfix when they reckoned
that collection would be speeded up if I used 'the app.'
Intrigued by this, I installed the app and logged into it. When I
looked at it walking from the car to the store a 'collecting order'
button had appeared, which I pressed.
A couple of minutes later a woman appeared at the counter with my
order. I can't say that it was any quicker because it was about 7pm,
so not a busy time.

In my local instead of waiting in the counter queue for click and
collect use one of the terminals to type in the order number and that
triggers someone to fetch it.

If it's empty and I only want one item I'll go to the counter. For
multiple item I pre-order.

Of course the catalogues no longer exist as the prices change so quickly.

I pre-order but the terminal entry just confirms that you have turned up
to collect the item. It's marginally faster if its reasonably busy.

I also note that the on-line catalogue for toolsatan has disappeared. It
used to be handy to find an item but then link up to the catalogue to
find everything else in that category. Now if you want something
similar (from another manufacturer for instance) you have to wade though
pages of listings. The online catalogue (the same as the printed one)
was good for finding something that you knew they sold but didn't quite
know the exact search phrase.

My local screwfix and toolstation share the same car park being within
30 seconds walk from each other.
