It's meaningless drivel, at best a perspective as seen through pro-western eyes, which doesn't actually answer the question.

That Rosenberg can only describe things as "surreal" demonstrates the complete lack of evidence that anything has changed in Russia, and I doubt any Russian would share his view.

One can make a pretty good case that people here are suffering far more from years of tory misrule than Russians are suffering from the conflict in Ukraine.

How many Russians are striking, having to use food banks, are going hungry, are living in the dark with the lights off, fear being made homeless, enduring years of living in poverty, because of the conflict in Ukraine ?

Nowhere near as many as here.
