No point dicking about
https://www.amazon.co.uk/KOVOT-XL-Wine-Glass-Bottle/dp/B00ZRYO30W

Back in a previous life in hospitality, lunch with our then wine
supplier featured 'proper' claret glasses into which went a bottle.

They were very good lunches . . . . .

Magical place.

It feels like a theme park sometimes, especially when you arrive at the Main Bus Terminal and see all the tourist coaches.

If you can explore yourself and hire a vehicle, and do what you want to do, then it's much more fun !

Not to knock the tours, they are very good for a 1st time visitor.

And, don't just do the Blue Lagoon, try the local open air swiming pools
(all heated of course :-) ), I much prefered them.

Agree, the Golden Circle coach tour is good for the first time visitor.

But to really see the place, you need a car or campervan. Lake Myvatn
and Dimmuborgir (the place, not the Norwegian heavy metal band) are
super cool[1]- as is Asbyrgi, an atypical place with lots of trees,
which are scarce in Iceland.

[1] The band is cool, too.

Laugurvatn Fontana is a good alternative to the <spit> Blue Lagoon.

And don't miss the Tomato Factory at Friðheimar. The soup is not to
be missed and the whole thing is fascinating, especially the bees.
