I tried it once on the advice of my MIL - massively UAB so much so
that I forgot about the toothache until I could get rid of the taste. Never
again!

YMMV.

Oil of cloves is a very traditional topical local anaesthetic. So yes, it
may well help *if* it can get to where it’s needed.

I've used oil of cloves in the past, apply it sparingly precisely where needed
as it is UAB^2

It does have a mild effect, but neurofen or cataflam jbex better for me,
thankfully no need for either of them since spending lotsa forints on dentistry

Cloves were always a good cure for toothache, and not addictive.

Just found some info. Not supposed to put it on gums. Only in cavities.
As my promble is a loose/broken tooth aggrevating a nerve I don't think
it would help.

I have been known to wedge a whole clove - straight from the jar in
the spice rack - between the gum and the cheek and next to the
offending tooth. I'm not sure whether it anaesthetised the tooth or
whether the violent tingling sensation in the area just meant I
couldn't distinguish the pain any more but either way my gums and
cheeks are still intact.

Never eard of Dentogen, but oil of cloves is an old and respected
pain-reliever. Get an ickle bockle from a pharmacist or herbalist, eg
Neil's Yard, roll-up a small ball of cotton wool, lint or other
absorbent cohesive material and put a few drops of the oil on to it,
damping it, but not drenching it, then place the wad on the affected
tooth and clamp it there with corresponding tooth from other jaw and
leave it thus until pain subsides/disappears.

You will feel a distinct warmth as it starts its jbex.

Can't be: I recommend it...

*I* don't find it UAB: it is rather like concentrated apple pie. When
molishing dessert (not desert) apple pulp I generally hfr around four
cloves per large apple.
