Would additional management have avoided the situation ? Possibly but, as has been noted, Canada has had one of its driest winters ever, temperatures have been as hot as California's Death Valley in recent years.

Scotland also just had one of its worse wildfires in years, though nothing compared to the size of the fires in Canada.

Doesn't seem too bad around me in SE MI, a bit hazy with a general camp
fire smell, vivid sunsets and moons. Thankfully the most toxic
concentrations of it are just east of my location, but that can change
any time. I live less than 20 miles from CA but that area is not likely
to burn in any big way, and if it does will likely blow south.
Amazing travel of this toxic mess reaching down to the gulf, if anything
more extensive than a volcano, with NY/PA bearing the brunt of this
crass and criminal mismanagement.

I have multiple campers in different locations, all areas are banning
camp fires for the time being, no rain in about 2 weeks with some
expected late SAT and most of the day SUN [Sucks going to camp with no
camp fires] But good citizen I am, I heed the prohibition ,, I have
noticed others trying to get away with small fires, they gave one guy a
$2K fine on the spot for one, publicized it and that seems to have done
the trick.
[Wish lefties would learn the lesson, punishing violations of the law
greatly reduces violations of the law]
