I was *wrong*.
I used the wrong fn. It seems fn 0A doesn't get me days elapsed neither, not on this box anyhow.

I actually used LibreOffice Calc to calculate, 2022 hex days. Calc is
now pretty good, not as good as Excel, but it's free.

However, having worked on 123 in the early 90s prior to Excel, I don't
understand where your negative Excel sentiments are coming from.

They're both hideously bloated tools distorted way beyond the
original goal of a spreadsheet and stuffed with bells and whistles that I
have no use for.

The only spreadsheet I use at all regularly is sc, it does what I
need of a spreadsheet, runs in a terminal and stores data in text files. I
can load it up, make a change, examine and save the result while
libreoffice is still loading shared objects into memory.

One of the reasons for the bloat is that users try to use Excel as a
database. Generally people who do that don't know enough about their data to
build a database from it.

Oh no I don't !

But I may occasionally have tried to use a database for things that
might have been easier in a spreadsheet.

I use sc for a spreadsheet, vi for an editor and troff to format
letters etc. and have done so for longer than most of the gooey alternatives
folks use today have existed. I've sometimes used LaTeX and once Docbook XML
(with XSLT and XSL-FO - never again <shudder>) for larger documents but
that's rare.
