TWO ARRESTED.

A teenage cyclist is fighting for his life in hospital after a hit and run in the middle of Southampton. Police were called out at 12.13am on Sunday (May 8) after reports that a car travelling along Commercial Road had hit a cyclist.

The rider, a 17-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Police said the car, a blue Ford Kuga, left the scene without stopping. A 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both from Rownhams, have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident. They remain in custody at this time.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw the incident, or might have captured what happened on dash cam. They are also encouraging any taxi drivers who might have seen something to come forward.
