Another weekend over. Only been waiting three years for this one. From
my perspective, it was one of the hardest to organise, as the dates
changed three times and trying to keep up with the folk wishing to
join/leave was a bit nightmare-ish. That's what I get for being a DFV,
I suppose. :-)

Col was alright, as the P&O fiasco meant that everyone had to organise
their own travel.

For the first time in years, I had a riding partner, in the form of the
original Scotsman, Mr Higgins. We were meant to pick up a Yank on the
route, but he'd been given some pressure to get out the hotel he was in
in Rouen (in a real dodgy place), so he'd abandoned us and shot up to
Dieppe before us.

It was great seeing all the faces again. Especially a couple of old
timers that hadn't been on a run for over 10 years.

There were some notable absences though, including our national
treasure, SD himself. WUN compensated for the lack of sweeties, but
Linda's fair hand in this domain, was sorely missed. Others, such as
Nick, the Wellers, Monz were missed too. But thanks again to Nick for
the kind donation of alcohol for dinner. Much appreciated.

So aside from the Casino trying to poison us with a re-heated cream of
mushroom soup (which took out at least 10 people, including CT, who
decided to head-butt a door whilst collapsing). Something I need to
sort out next week. As some form of compensation, they provided us with
free wine and beer on the Sat. I'll see what else I can get out of
them, but I'll not hold my breath.

That may have put a slight dampener on the events for Saturday, as I
think most people were content to bimble around the market and only a
few bikes went out for runs around the place.

It didn't stop YTC going for a dip in the channel. The man is mad, I
tell you. Pics on the other place.

But alcohol still flowed a-plenty and we had a cracking evening on the
Sat. Some people were definitely worse for wear (even on the Sunday),
which is in keeping with UKRM traditions.

It was great seeing you all again and in memory of The Older Gentleman,
I'll try to keep things going. Amiens seems to be a popular choice for
next year.

Being my 1st run for 12 years I couldn't help but notice differences.

Prime was of course no TOG. I deliberatley rode via Montreuil for some
of the 1st roads I chased his Ducati along. (I'm expecting a letter in
the post as I spotted the camera on the way back.)

Other differences, to me, were.
A high number of cars.
No mass run for the ferry/train today, I think a majority were extending
their stay.
As mentioned, very few bikes went out Saturday.
No CIHAGM fest!
Lack of rain.

It was good to catch up, and be reminded of names.

Ah well, I'll try not to leave it so long until my next French run :-)

Yes, well done, again.
I didn't attend as I was getting overwhelmed with stuff at home and work,
its a good job I didnt attend, as on Friday afternoon I started feeling
bloody awful, and went to bed at 4pm. Apart from an occasional hour
getting a cup of tea, I've been in bed since, so roughly 60 hours lying
down feeling awful. Yep, a Covid test showed I'd finally got the plague.
If this is what it's like while having had the full vaccinations, it must
be truly awful without.
I'm feeling a little better this morning, but strangely I'm nearly
falling over at times as I haven't got any balance and feel dizzy.
I've not eaten much, so that doesn't help.
One upside, I'm really glad I missed the soup on Friday!
If you need help organising for next year, then I can do that.

They left the bar at 3.30am apparently. They both made it to breakfast
although for at least one of them mainly consisted of looking blankly
at a pain-au-chocolat and wondering whether it will stay down if he ate
it.

OPn top of that, he had to ride 400 miles or so back to Wales. Poor
sod. For the distance, not the desination. Although...

Aye, since my illness I don't really have the balance to do two wheels, which is annoying.
I managed to turn up in the wrong car as well.
Thursday nights escapade of the funbus lunching itself on the M25, costing me £330 to recover it back to Deadcat, and getting to the Premier Inn at 3am in Ma's car started the weekend off on a bit of a downer.
Fridays nights food did for me (I did mention at the time that there was summat up with the soup) and left me feeling a bit dicky all night, on the plus side I had one of the best poo's I've had in months.
Saturday was nice, bumbling around the market, having a nice long lunch and relaxing day, cancelled the campsite I had booked in Neufchatel en Bray, and booked a nice looking hotel along the coast. Unfortunately at the time I didn't realise I'd booked it for Saturday night and not Sunday night.
It was a bit of a brucie bonus as the hotel for Sunday night was stunning, beautiful location, comfortable and the food was OMG, in fact, planning on taking Mum back for a market visit and a night at the hotel, it was that good. And they didn't charge me for my no show on Saturday night - which they well within their rights to do so.
Nearly missed the ferry back as spent a little longer browsing in the big Intermarche in Dieppe than I meant to, coolbox filled to gunnels with good fodder, I fucking love French supermarkets, I just want to pick up the Deli counter and take it away with me.

Anyways, well done to the DFVs it was nice to raise a couple in TOGs memory, and as mentioned meet you lovely bunch again.

YTC - www.brownz.org - wholly recommend a ProQ bullet smoker as you can cold smoke, hot smoke, grill etc on it, a great all rounder that ticks a lot of boxes.
