They are one of the most aggressive snakes you'll ever come across, and
I have absolutely no problem with them being sent to snake heaven if
they come within range.

Jerky the clueless expert can go fuck himself on what he "thinks" should
be done, as living over there in "Wait Awhile" he's never had to deal
with one.

Yep. You can tell when snakes are around by the birds. They go into a
fucking frenzy with all their alarm calls going off.

What a beauty!

We have a lot of Western Brown snakes. Seen plenty, just stay clear and
let them be on their way. The only time there is any need for concern is
when bush walking as they tend to lay on the tracks in the sun and when
spooked will rear up. Just need to be alert and look ahead on the track.

Fastest snake can travel 12km/h and he's not one of them so unless you
are a cripple you can easily outleg any snake ;-)

I've seen one Westermn Browns cross the road just around the corner from
my place. I just stopped and waited and let it pass. Almost everyone
here is educated on snakes and pretty good but there are always a few
retarded fuckwits that target snakes for no reason, usually greyhair
tourists down from Perth with the old retarded "the only good snake is a
dead snake" mentality.

Yes, they are. but certainly way more timid than a brown... 1st weekend
here, mate left a bag or rubbish.. i bent down to pick it up, and came
face to face with a RB blacks head, just staring at my hand, prolly 2'
away. i withdrew, and so did he/she. They are so timid... but have
killed one punter on record... must have had it's period :-)

Bro in WA clobbered a dugite in his backyard in a very suburban Perth.
Hell, here in Melburg, we get reports of copperheads in the local
parks... Easy to live with a python thats too fucking fat to move after
eating your cat (YAY!) but living with deadly cunts like Boris is
another matter. For me, it's a case by case deal. As I said, in 11
years, i've shot one snake. Let the rest do what they do. No mice here. :-D

Well, let me say this: whilst it doesnt have the most macho name, the
Cub Cadet RZT-S46 is absolutley fucking awesome. It's done what i'd
normally do, in half the time, with half the noise, the zero turn is
insane, and half the fuel economy. grass and weeds, 2' tall is not a
problem... Granted i'm not prepared to get it into the thick shit(yet),
it's certainly everything i want in a mower untill the Kabota arrives.
Cruise control!! :-D Very happy!!! and yep, it came with the little
bracket for the exhaust chute :-D And a full tank of fuel and a set of
blades...... happy happy joy joy. :-D

Yep.

I only take out the Browns, and only when they get close enough to
warrant it. Never seen a Tiger here (used to get them slithering across
the sand at Altona Beach), and only had one Red Bellied Black that I
shooed off into the paddock behind me and I've never seen it since.

Fuck. If that's the mild shit then the thick stuff must be hideous :)

They're an awesome machine and I'm glad you're as happy with yours as we
are with ours. When we swapped over from the Toro lawn tractor the
difference was like night and day, and the steering wheel system is just
fucking brilliant.

Excellent :)

I am, in laws used to have a small farm at Pirron Yallock, I used borrow
the father in laws 22 and I scared lots of rabbits around that area.
Don't remember seeing any snakes but I probably scared them away as well:-)

when I was young rabbits were so plentiful on the farm you could sit on
top of the hill and shoot them all day long, or until you ran out of
ammo. then the government used myxomatosis.

And got up there again after 150mm of rain in the last week or so, and
saw 3 red-bellied blacks in the last 3 days, all around the 4' mark, all
well fed, and one has left a lasting memory on me. :-) Until the next
one does.

Had a bit of an issue with one red-bellied black snake, about 3, maybe 4
foot long, and very unhappy. I nearly ran him over on my quad, as i was
picking a path on a rocky track,  was looking for sump-breaking rocks,
rather than shiny sticks. Slammed on the anchors before squashing him.
stopped just in front of him, maybe 2 foot  from front tyre. He's got
his head flattened, and sitting up, tongue flashing in and out, clearly
pissed off at being awakened. He started heading away from me, but then
turned around and headed straight back at me. I cant move, I wont get
off the quad, I cant go left or right, and old mate is behind me with
his camera out, hoping to take photo's of brown stuff running down my
leg... I yelled "back up";  he put his quad in reverse, me too, and just
in time to see the last 6" of the snake going down a hole in the track
that was under the front of the quad. Phew. I know RB blacks are nearly
harmless, him diving into a hole in the track, rather than having a
crack at me is tantamount to that, but gee.... Got the blood moving
there for a while..  😃

I'll bet it did :) They're pretty docile things, but Jesus they can look
nasty :)

Been a quiet Summer around here so far. Nothing but Blue Tongues.

The poor critter will of course die since snakes are very fragile and
even a small amount of scale damage will ultimately lead to infection
and death.
You should've blasted it with your shotttie and put it out of its
misery before it went down the hole (from which it's unlikely to
emerge). :)

When they flatten that black head, and stare at you... Pass!!!

> Been a quiet Summer around here so far. Nothing but Blue Tongues.

Didn't see one, and there are normally a few. What was very strange...
no critters!. It's not uncommon to make a coffee before sunrise, saunter
over to the fence and see 100 or so 'roos, a deer or two, perhaps a fox
or hare. In 10 days, the tally for me was 2 'roos, one hare, one quail,
and bugger all else. Mate claims he saw 2 deer on a track whilst on a
quad. Maybe the 'roos ate themselves to death? :-) (fingers x'ed)

Also slapped a deposit down on the tractor and front end loader. Dealer
in Bairnsdale wouldn't take a deposit, which sort of left me exposed to
rising freight costs and higher prices. Spoke to another Kubota dealer
in Morwell, he's doing the same deal for $900 less, free delivery,
on-site servicing... should see it before the Labour Day weekend. Very
happy. I thought the loader had a "euro-hitch". Nope.. comes std with a
"skid steer" hitch, so nearly anything on a skid steer loader will fit
up to the loader/tractor. :-) Luckily the tree puller I mentioned
earlier comes on a skid-steer mount :-D Thats #1 !!

The boys came up with some names for some of the machinery...

The new mower, (yellow and black), is now named Dusty, after Dusty
Martin obviously, because it fucks everything in front of it..

The new tractor, being Kubota Orange, is now known as Donald. Trump..

And the old tractor got a guernsey: We've called it Cathy Freeman, coz
it's ugly as sin, and keeps running. And wont be around for long. :-)

Dealer may buy it when he delivers mine. :-) I'll chuck in an old Nissan
Patrol thats rusting away for free.... :-)

Got a big roo here that for the last 3 or 4 days has been hovering
around my back fence. I suspect it's injured as it won't run off, but it
won't let me get close enough to find out. I've left water out for it
and called the rangers, but as yet I haven't seen anyone turn up.

Fucking pissa :)

Heh :)

I'm pinching the "Dusty" name for our mower as it's perfect. My
Tractor's name is Barry, and my excavator used to be called Leroy. My
bobcat was called Mungo, and I made a stencil for it and sprayed it on
the back when I had it. I recently found the stencil when looking for
some other shit and decided to christen the Navara and painted the name
on it's rear bumper as well :)
