I have a half decent noise cancelling Anker Soundcore Q30 at home and it
does the job, but I know it's Chinese junk and it will pack up one day.
So I leave this at home but I need a solid, disposable, wired, cheap
pair of cans that can withstand extensive brutalisation when I'm out and
about.

It must be wired because bluetooth on my Thinkpad is finicky and ideally
with removable cable, because that's the one that usually breaks.

Sound quality doesn't matter because I only use for morse code.

My 1st thought would have been an AKG but the cable is too long and it's
not removable.

Can you not remove the cable and its strain relief and fit a connector
in its place?
