vehicle of power, and power is all that they care about.
No amount of evidence it would seem would prompt any meaningful probe,
while any and all of his adversaries have the power of state turned on
them in full force.

Problem with a senile old liar as president is he can't be believed,
ever. It may be true that all leaders and public men have to lie at
times for the good of the nation, but when they do it for personal and
partisan political reasons, that is what you call a banana republic.

Wouldn't the founding fathers have seen this coming on, as they did much
else, to protect the republic from single party tyranny ?

In fairness, they could never see a day coming on when a voting base of
a US party was composed largely of non whites and sexual deviants who
hate America. So naturally, they thought it would never be a problem
because such a party would never be voted into office in the first place.
They could not foresee a party becoming completely hypnotized and agenda
motivated, they could not foresee federal agencies becoming corrupted by
the same virus .. And most of all, they could not foresee a large
segment of the free press endorsing and promoting all of this whilst
turning a blind eye to documented evidence of major corruption and
bribes at the highest levels.
