Going on from the previous thread, its amazing that more people do not maim
themselves with power tools. It used to be normal to walk down a street with
people hedge cutting and doing the lawn with mains powered devices. Usually
there was at least one joint in the cable held together by tape. People got
away with it, in the main.
More recently of course not only do we have cordless devices, but the
popularity of the Angle grinder as a general purpose tool has exploded, as
have injuries from them. Obviously, I am now blind so cannot use them, but
when you consider that the instructions are normally full of warnings about
their dangers, you see people using them to cut things that can easily snag
and kick back. It used only to be chain saws that injured people, but I
think Angle grinders are now number one.
Goggles? what goggles?

You can get a chain saw blade for an angle grinder. Banned in the UK
but still available in the USA.

Which states:
Under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 only safe
machinery can be placed on the market.

I would only use it where there's going to be a 'kick forward' and
obviously no one else in the area. So it depends on what you mean by 'safe'.

I think then, using an angle grinder while up a ladder has to be the worst
thing to do.

Nope. Using a chain saw up a ladder, without PPE while
your other half is holding the ladder 'steady' is really
dangerous (for the other half) :-(
