To err is human. To really foul things up requires a computer and the BOFH.

Agreed, The only example we have of what might be a cometary strike on
Earth is the Tanguska (sp?) incident, much evidence of what might be a
shock wave, but little sign of a center (bit of metal).

Of course nowadays that would be blamed on Putin!.

The dino extinctions, on the other hand, seem to be caused by large
masses of compact materials.

Ha! I enjoyed that. I suspect that the caculations for a hockey puck would
differ from those of a grapefruit by quite an amount, but even so it looks
as though the fruit woul be ablated before it lands..

Several hectofortnights ago, someone I know was walking past a flock of
bats in a nearby town when there was a scream from a little girl walking
nearby with a woman. Some disgusting nefrubyr had thrown a hfrq pbaqbz
out of a high-up window, and it had hit the poor girl on the head.
Tissues were offered and gratefully accepted.

Yes I thought that sounded a bit peculiar. Maybe it was written by an alien,
where they measure things in Easter Eggs?

The one in the museum I mentioned was rally more potato sized and one bit
was somewhat charred.

I think the Science museum in London has a lot of them.
Back in the 1950s, it was always a meteor which brought some alien life
form to earth as I recall from all the very bad moves made around that time!

Yes I was just thinking there is a project to send some robot spacecraft up
with a large kind of net thing to gradually clear really bad orbits of space
junk. The idea would be to attempt to de orbit them by slowing the bits
down. I can see the weather forecast of the future saying wear you hard hat
today moderate falls of space junk is predicted.

I think the point in the case I'm talking about was that it was certified as
a meteorite since it had been charred and cracked, being part of a larger
on, but it was also magnetic.

So in Space one wonders how it gets magnetise, since its on the move
constantly which would in many cases make it either randomly magnetised or
degaussed.

Not much of it is big enough to make the ground AIUI, pretty lights

When I was a fcbvyg haqretenqhngr a fellow student was interviewed by
the warden of the hall of residence. He had had complaints from the
gardeners that his qvfpneqrq pbaqbzf, which had been thrown out of his

Shades of the old yoke about the hippy couple staying in a farmer's
barn. One morning he asks them if they'd like breakfast which they decline
saying they're living on the fruits of love to which he replies "Ah well in
that case would you mind not throwing out the skins, they choke the cows".
