Often something triggers the Dialog automatic spell check algorithm to turn
entire lines (sometimes the entire article I'm composing) red.

To stop it, I click spell checking on and off a few times.
That seems to "slap" Dialog's spell checker algorithm back to its senses.

Have you ever seen that happen?
Do you know why it happens?

Is there a permanent solution?

You need to set a default language/dictionary from the right-box next to
the spellcheck tick box.

Sometimes, word boundary detection of the Dialog composition window gets
out of synch. In my experience, deleting and re-entering a character from
the first word of the text with red underlining re-initializes the word
boundary detection.

> Do you know why it happens?

I never cared enough to try to detect a pattern. Automatic background saving
while changing text in the foreground buffer seems to play a role, though.

Apart from disabling spell checking? ;-)
No.

That's the most logical explanation that fits the evidence.
When it happens, I turn spellchecking off and then back on.

Often (but not always), that rectifies it.
Thanks.
