and Google IIRC did not allow Huawei to use its PlayStore.

I used to work for a company as a sniffer years ago. We were
hired to capture traffic from Huawei equipment over a period of
six months. It was quite the technical network project. The
packet captures were stored on a pair of EMA12000s.

The exact parameters were provided by a team who we suspected
were from a major network OEM. They were very specific about
what traffic they wanted to capture and it took a week of
testing to fine tune requirements.

It was clear that they were compiling independently captured
evidence of the Huawei equipment leaking traffic it shouldn't
based on configuration and access lists. The data didn't look
like much but it wasn't our place to do anything except capture
packets when the team enabled a route out of the network with
Internet access.
