That's unnecessary nowadays. iOS manages battery health though optimised
battery charging.

iphones are smart enough so that they don't do any harm
to the battery if you start charging when you go to bed.

You don't have to charge it on the bedside.

Tho its certainly safer to do that in case you have
a stroke or heart attack or something while in bed.

But others may well turn do not disturb on before
charging and need to be sure it is charging.

But I mostly use the audible signal with the much more convenient
magnetic plug in charger to check that it has connected properly.

The real answer is not to be that fiddly with your charger or if you
insist on being fiddly, but the phone somewhere that is not next to
where you sleep.

On her phone there is no "Do Not Disturb" button on the quick access
options panel, but there is a "Mute" button which she uses. It's easy
and she's used to doing it, so there's no real point confusing her with
another way.

Her Samsung must be very, very old. If she does not want to change it is
pointless to mention it here. IIRC "Do not disturb" was implemented in
Android 8 or 9 IIRC. We stand at 12 now.

For your Mom it would be much healthier to completely shut down the
phone during her bedtime.

iPhone 7 years ago.

Nope. Only stipulation is that it has iOS 13 or above. I would assume it
won't work on after market battery replacements, though.

No it does not on older hardware. Applies also to Macs.
I have enough epxerience from this transition period.
