That's database lag and they never really fixed that. At least not when
I tried it a few years ago. It's not anywhere near as bad as it was at
launch, but even over 10 years later there was a noticible bit of lag
when looting that you don't see in any other MMORPG.

I remember the loot lag definitely. From my hazy and brain cell burned
drunken memory you would stick like that for 30 seconds or so before
disconnecting from the server. Connecting back you'd have run off a
cliff and the loot you thought you received was gone.

Referring back to D4's release: at least they did something a little comical
with it, literally marketing the release as "D4 Server Slam" as if it absolves
them of all the strafe they're going to get : )
