There appears to be a DNS problem with regard to mixmin.net.
Specifically its MX records.

A review of some of the pinger services reveals a problem. Pings are not
arriving at mixmin.net.

You may have noticed your remailer messages through mixmin.net not
getting delivered lately.

I will try to contact Zax by email and inform him.

This is going to get ugly if not addressed. Many remailers depend on
Mixmin for their stats and keys. When they can no longer reach
mixmin.net their stats and keys will get stale and eventually unusuable.
Remailer clients will begin to complain about remailer keys expired and
"Insufficient remailers to comply with distance criteria"

That would make sense, actually. IIRC both Dizum and Daniel's Email make use of
IPv6 addresses, and nym.mixmin.net is working normally with services that have
IPv6 enabled.

I run my own DNS servers using OpenDNS, google and ISP DNS as forwarders.

There does appear to be something randomly odd going on with the
mixmin.net DNS lookups. Using different online tools, sometimes the
message below is returned.

Address lookup
lookup failed www.mixmin.net
A temporary error occurred during the lookup. Trying again may succeed.

For the most part resolution appears to be occurring correctly, but not in
some cases as SEC3 and the OP noted, confirmed by various independent
online tools.

I did look at some of this yesterday and the lookups seemed incomplete,
missing one or the other V4/V6 info. Today it seems consistent and
complete.

Its DNSSEC signatures expired.
You could turn off DNSSEC validation for mixmin.net

Hopefully sorted now. An update to systemd in Archlinux had renamed the
network device on my Master DNS server.
