Who in the world could think that, while the modal dialog (with respect
to a particular Word document) is open, that it would be a good idea to
pass certain keystrokes back into the document itself?

I was doing a "Save as..." on a Word file (which Microsoft has now
caused to be named "Save a copy...", which actually represents a
different operation) and accidentally hit the Cmd-return key
combination, which caused a manual page break to be added to the
document at the current insertion point.

Utterly idiotic.

Further more, I just noticed that Word, and in fact all of the Microsoft
Office apps fail to use the new dropdown sheet UI.

There you go.

Three stupid choices in less than a minute.

More than likely operator error.

Sorry, but it isn't "operator error" that a document still accepts
commands when it is in the process of being saved.

It's not operator error that Microsoft took a command that everyone knew
and renamed it something else...

....oh and which changes names depending on whether or not you're saving
a purely local document, or a Sharepoint-located document.

It's not operator error that Microsoft chose to use an older UI for
"Save" sheets.

Windows 11, Dell PC, latest Word version, cannot replicate the CMD-Enter issue. I get a ding/error sound, nothing else. Using a Mac?

Yes, Little Shit.

I use a Mac.

Surely this doesn't come as a surprise to you.

Surely you know that the Mac version is different from Windows. The issues do not show up on Windows 11.

Surely you know that the Windows version is their primary sales source. It gets better support than the Mac version.

So you're admitting that Microsoft intentionally cripples the Mac
versions of their software, Little Shit?

That they don't even bother fixing obvious problems?

No Alan, not that at all. The versions are on separate tracks, so there are differences. One of those is support level. I saw that decades ago when we had a mixed Mac/Compaq PC environment at my workplace. It's apparently still the case. Send your issue to Microsoft via the Office forum.

And what is obvious about your accidental and non-standard key sequence? If the dropdowns are not updated do they still work as intended? Are you mad because Windows is maybe 90% of the Office market and Mac is maybe 10%?

Interesting, Little Shit.

You're an instant expert on how Microsoft runs its software development,
are you?

It was certainly accidental that I keyed it...

....but how is that relevant?

How is it that a key sequence that has no purpose within a dialog box is
even allowed to be ACTIVE?

> If the dropdowns are not updated do they still work as

If they allow key sequences to be passed to the main document window
while they are open?

No, Little Shit. That is NOT working as intended.

> Are you mad because Windows is maybe 90% of the Office

Hell, no, Little Shit.

I'm delighted that it's so. I need people to be using Windows crap...

....because those who use Mac hardly ever need my services anymore.
