When I first read the subject line, I thought you were speaking about
"Polyhedron", the old (tabletop) RPG magazine/organization, and was
surprised to know they still existed... much less they had an opinion
on video games.

But, no, Polygon is an entirely different organization.

But, I'll agree: the list is generally a better selection of games
(even if most of their top-ten is identical to NY Times)

Don't all video games use polygons in some fashion?

Video games - probably. Computer games, no. I can ensure you
I've enjoyed a number of games that used only text/asci/pixel
graphics. I suppose there might be some way to shoehorn those
into the definition of polygons.

Most of those I was aware of and am not interested, wasn't aware
of and am not interested, look like console kids games and am
really not interested, or was aware of and am interested,
just not enough to buy it right now. I did find the first one that
I wasn't aware of and looks fun:

MR. SUN’S HATBOX
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1214670/Mr_Suns_Hatbox/
- not at the current price of $14.99 though.

Going through the top 50 I managed to find one game, Talos Principle 2,
that I've played.

50/50 nope.

Almost though I had played 2, system shock and dead space, but
apparently they remade them and I have not played the remakes only the
originals.

Xbox-PSwhatever-Nintendo anything, really don't give a shit.

I honestly can't remember. It was - IIRC - released a long while ago;
I don't think as far back as DOS but possibly in the Win9x era. From
what I recall, it described the world via (short) narrative or
effects, then you reacted by pushing keys - each of which made their
own sound and had different effects. Nothing showed up on screen.

I'm not entirely sure it was even a stand-alone game. Now that I'm
thinking about it, it might have been a flash browser game (were Flash
games a thing in the Win9x era?). Except I (vaguely) recall it being a
bit fuller than most Flash game experiences.

Despite the URL, this has some PC games. I wasn't aware of Star Trek:
Resurgence but turns out it's coming out in Q2 next year. Seems like a
Telltale style adventure though but might be a decent Star Trek fix.

I was reminded of this thread while reading an article the other day
about a gamer who managed to play professionally despite being

the sounds the sprites made, even able to tell the difference based on
what side of the screen they were.

So while the games have visuals (be they polgons or sprites or
characters or vectors... apparently they aren't necessary if you're
