Is the near death of exit remailers because of the near death of
Usenet itself? But exits are still useful for e-mail. PGP and AES
are great for covering the content of an e-mail, but exit remailers
also hide the source of the message.

I'm just wondering why in this age of computer progress there aren't a
least a few more exit remailers.

is a simple matter, because none of the plain text content posted
to these unmoderated newsgroup forums requires decryption to read;
but some users may have more serious concerns about prevention of
"unauthorized" access to unencrypted content regardless of format
or function, in such cases "whole message encryption" is strongly

But with the invention of Government Trojans, which you can't detect
on your online usage Computer, this is not the proper way to do
remailing, nowadays. One should create his messages on an offline
computer, generate outfiles and later send this outfiles via socat,
Tor to the first hop. YAMN (only) is well suited for this.

Stats can be also fetched via socat and Tor and YAMN is not needed for
this task.
