Band" and "Apple News" is _completely missing_ from Android... which means
Steve doesn't understand what functionality is if he can't separate
functionality from brand names.

Likewise, in the same thread, nospam pasted a ton of trademarks (such as
"Apple Pay" and even "animoji" as his idea of useful basic functionality
that he thinks Android completely lacks.

Neither Steve nor nospam can separate functionality from marketing brands.
Hence, the question remains...

And no, we're not talking rooted/jailbroken and we're not talking about
which app brand you happen to like best. If you happen to like some of the
features of a brand X newsreader, for example, that is only on one platform
and not the other, then that doesn't count because newsreaders are on both
platforms - and hence the basic app functionality isn't completely missing
from either platform.

Act like an adult and name a _single_ basic useful app functionality on iOS
that you claim is completely missing from Android, nospam...

HINT: No matter how much Apple spends in branding, electronic payment
systems and emoji, the basic app functionality isn't completely
missing from Android - and if you think it is - that shows you
can't separate brand-name marketing from functional technology.

The fact is there is _plenty_ of useful basic app functionality on Android
that is completely missing from iOS but this is asking about the other way.

It's good people are _thinking_ hard about what basic functionality is on
one platform and yet that same basic functionality is missing from another.

But it isn't going to be common video telephony software functionality.

being able to simply install apps from anywhere on the internet.

A Calendar app where the reminders actually works at the scheduled
time, rather than the the alarm sounding "whenever I feel like it"
approach in Android.

you have absolutely no way of knowing what will happen in 12 years.

the reality is that very few apps are updated for anywhere near that
long.

as with everything, there are exceptions, such as facebook and twitter,
which have been around for years and likely will still be around for
many more. that is not the norm.

apps also drop support for older hardware and android versions, which
means that a future version of an app won't work on a device bought
today. it will target whatever hardware and os is available at that
future time, relying on features and frameworks that don't yet exist.
