I use the latest version of Omnimix in conjunction with Thunderbird
to retirive NG articles.

I connect via Zax's .onion NNTP hidden service.

I can initially connect and retrive articles.

But if I wait a few minutes and try and retrive more articles I get
this error:

" A News (NNTP) error occurred: Problem during data exchange with
host-disconnecting."

I solve the problem by shutting down OM and restarting.

And that fixes the problem. Until the next time.

Is there some setting I can change to fix this?

Usually the newsreader retries after a connection failure. Check the
timeout values at the News tab. I have 40000 for Connect and 20000 for
Read.

My experiments showed no problems. Only at 00:41:02.811 OM failed to
connect, whereupon the newsreader immediately retried, now with success.

When it stops, try one of the options below.

1. Stop and Start buttons to stop and restart services on the
main menu of OmniMix instead of the entire application.

2. Stop Tor then Start Tor using the buttons on the main menu of
OmniMix instead of the entire application.

See if that enables communication again.

If you have AV software running, disable it temporarily.

Lastly, did you follow these instructions? In particular as it
applies to "deactivate DNS prefetching" for Thunderbird?
